![]() The last month at the SWADE desk has been extremely productive for Tik, working on both WA and NT Be Connected, Capacity Building projects. Tik and Ursula have both been speaking with the team at Victoria Daly Regional Council in the NT since Get Online Week last year, and the Council has just applied for their first round of funding for a Be Connected pilot project to be held in their Library and recreation space at Pine Creek, just south of Darwin. Last month Ursula made the hard decision to step down from her role within ASCCA’s Be Connected project in the NT, due to her other work and study commitments. She worked hard in the Top End to promote the causes of ASCCA and Be Connected and will be sadly missed. Consequently, ASCCA is currently seeking someone based in the NT who might be interested in picking up some of her tasks. Meanwhile in WA, our Four Peaks Partnership project is still on track, having hosted another Zoom session on the last Monday of March - and adding another six new Digital Mentors to the tally. Natika has been spending her time following up the Digital Mentors she’s trained to see how they're tracking with their Be Connected projects.

Health My Way and NSW Mentors1/12/2020 NSW
Lead Digital Mentors, Mark Young and Jean Martin have well and truly filled their tutoring appointments, even in the uncertain COVID-19 times of delivery in a manner that this time last year was virtually untried, especially out of ASCCA in Sydney. Both are to be commended for their innovative initiatives, and commitment to ensure Seniors wishing to learn technology were catered for as best we could.

Get Online Week - Online!1/11/2020 The recent Get Online Week initiative of Good Things Foundation, Be Connected program saw over 700 community events take place in person or online across the country to support people to improve their digital skills.
ASCCA was honoured to have been an official supporter of the digital inclusion plan. SWADE WA had a lovely virtual morning tea with some of our Western Australian potential new network partner representatives, from the 4 Peak Body Project, to celebrate. Both virtual morning teas offered the opportunity to spruik the benefits of the #BeConnectedAU project.

Delivering Remotely1/9/2020 The SWADE team has been busily working through the last few months, with a variety of projects on the boil. Jen and Tik are currently working on no less than six active Be Connected projects for SWADE and have recently been successful in applying for funding for Round 6 Capacity Building projects in the NT and WA. This is thanks to their Telecentre days, where they learned to grasp every opportunity to apply for grants possible!
The SWADE Team, under the overall management of Director, Jennifer Willcox now consists of Mark Young - NSW, Ursula Lyons - NT, Natika Hawes-Wright and Linda Beard - WA. A growing team, doing great things!
